Impressions on Tom Weksler Movement Archery & Zen Acrobatics

Last April I had the opportunity to host Tom Weksler’s well known Movement Archery and Zen Acrobatics workshop in Vienna, this is a 3-Day workshop focused in movement awareness and skills. The group got sold out quick and we were excited to learn from Tom and Roser Tutusaus.

The participants were a mix of cotemporary dancers, fitness coaches, yoga teachers and martial artists who are interested in improving their own movement practice, body awareness and partner communication. By this, fulfill their need to express and share a more personal experience to the ones around them.

MOVEMENT ARCHERY AND ZEN ACROBATICS: PRACTICE PREP

Tom guided the group of movers every day to a warm up for the coming practice. He used a mix of martial arts with yoga to prepare the body sensibility and awareness.

MOVEMENT ARCHERY AND ZEN ACROBATICS: MOVEMENT ARCHERY

Tom introduced to us, the participants, couple concepts like clay body, empty space, hook and landscapes. We had song time lapse to explore and be open to practice these concepts.

Observation of the participants in the practices and tasks.

Everyone shows patterns, habits, behaviors according to their lifestyle and movement information. You could identify the dancers, the weight lifters, the kinstretch practitioners and martial artists.

The practice about creativity and imagination by impulse showed clear what’s in their memory cells. Softness, hardness, simplicity or/ and complexity.

MOVEMENT ARCHERY AND ZEN ACROBATICS: THE JAM

Bailar hermano… Embracing chaos, transcending freedom, dancing…

Dance like no one is watching

I’m not a dancer, and I never liked to dance in front of people, so you might question what am I doing hosting Tom’s Movement Archery and Zen Acrobatics, first of all I am human and I want to connect with another human. I’ll look for ways to do so in this life time. After this connection I can have ambitions, goals to develop a role, a role that can be titled as athlete, competitor, artist, teacher, coach, planner, you name it.

Everyone has purposes, this special workshop definitely will give you tools, open those sensorial doors to a better practice.
